You may have already heard about an important update from BigCommerce that may impact the styling of your storefront. Make sure you're ready for the transition on November 1, 2023.
BigCommerce is transitioning from the current SASS compiler, node-sass, to the more secure and modern dart-sass. This change ensures the long-term security of your platform and enables support for the latest versions of Node (Node 18) in Stencil CLI.
To ensure a smooth transition and avoid any styling issues on your live storefront, we offer three options:

Free Update for Unmodified Themes:
If you are currently using an unmodified Flair theme, we have already released updates to address these compatibility issues. Simply update your theme to the latest version provided by us. If you are running Covent Garden 2.9.0, Camden 1.11.0 or 22 Savile Row 2.12.0 or newer, your theme is already compatible. We are also actively working on updates for our other themes to ensure compatibility, which will be ready before November.

Basic Update for Modified Themes:
If you're using a customized version of a Flair theme, we can analyze your store SCSS files and make sure they're ready for the transition to dart-sass. We'll adjust any rules which may cause issues when the platform update goes live in November. You can book this service on our website today.

Advanced Update for Modified Themes:
If you are using a custom version of one of our themes, we understand the unique requirements of your storefront. Our team can assist you in updating your theme to the latest version, whilst keeping your existing modifications. We will work closely with you to ensure a seamless transition. It's important to note that the legacy SASS compiler (node-sass) will be sunset on November 1, 2023. After this date, all SCSS files will be compiled using the newer dart-sass engine. Failure to address these issues may result in styling inconsistencies on your live storefront.
