Covent Garden 2.11.0: New Image Zoom Modes

Covent Garden 2.11.0: New Image Zoom Modes

We've just released version 2.11.0 of our Covent Garden BigCommerce theme. This update focuses on improving the product image experience, fixing visual bugs, and making the theme easier to customise and maintain.

New: Product Image Zoom Settings

Product imagery is critical to online conversions, so this release adds a set of zoom options to let you tailor the experience:

  • Open lightbox: Opens a full-screen lightbox with support for swiping, zooming and viewing all gallery images.

  • Hover to zoom: Shows a magnified view when customers move their mouse over the product image.

  • Disable zoom: Disables zoom for a cleaner and more minimal layout.

These settings can be managed directly in the theme editor, allowing you to adapt the behaviour to suit your industry and product range.

Fixes and Improvements

In addition to these new features, we’ve resolved a number of display bugs to deliver a smoother and more polished experience:

  • Fixed image thumbnails overflowing their containers on product and cart pages.

  • Brand images now display correctly on the Brands page.

  • Thumbnail clicks now correctly update the main image.

For a full list of all the fixes included in this update, please see the Covent Garden changelog.

Under-the-Bonnet Updates

  • Added support for Stencil CLI’s ESM migration, inline with BigCommerce's changes.

  • Moved static text into en.json, making it easier to localise and translate.

  • Fixed a compatibility issue where certain third-party integrations blocked product review submissions.
